About us & the Old Schoolhouse
In 1992 our family bought the “fixer upper” known as the Grizzly Bluff Schoolhouse. The yard was empty and the interior a mess. In 1992 by a stroke of fate, we took possession of the home & a 7.2 magnitude Earthquake struck the coast of Cape Mendocino knocking our beloved home off of her foundation that very same day. Out of the rubble a dream was crafted. Carefully and lovingly she was put back together, board by board. Now, 32 years later, in what was once a barren yard of mud & rocks- a secret garden has come alive. Gorgeous cascades of elder roses, bushes of hydrangeas, lilacs and budding trees frame the historic home. Haven to birds, bees and family the home now doubles as our creative inspiration and work studio for Barrow & Bushel. Our mom’s creative genius inspired by an education in botany & years of landscape & floral design is the foundation of the wonderful products we deliver to your home. A family business, grown with love, hope and inspiration, we find joy in sharing our passion with you.
